Who minted this round?

I got one of these for a hell of a deal and wanted to know if anyone knew who minted it.

As I recall, the Letcher Mint produced a flood of such Silver Trade Units back in the early 1970s.

It would have been nice if they could have put the year on them.

I believe they did on the International Trade Unit. Been a while since last I saw any of the private mintings. But I do know that it was included on the Minerva, around 1974?

I actually like it when I find rounds that have no date on them. THey still need to have the 1 oz silver .999 on them but I like them with no dates, so I can pretend that if I went back in time I could use them with out someone saying "1979" what kind of crank are you?" LOL,,,,,,,ahhh,,, ok,, :proud:

Sunshine State was a private mint, I believe. I have many 10 ounce bars hallmarked "Sunshine State" from about 20 to 30 years ago.

I have to disagree with ya HS. Sunshine State is a another name for Florida. I think you are confusing that with the Sunshine Mint.

You are a man of your word. I like the flashing option. Wish you would reconsider my offer to pay you for the flashlight. Do you like cookies??

Re: Who minted this round?

I was just digging around in my stash and I found some one ounce rounds that look yellower than the rest.
They say:
1987 Bicentennial of the Constitution on one side and United States Constitution Philadelphia 1787 along with "contains one ounce pure silver".

I'm assuming they are yellow because of copper(?). Never seen the word "Contains" to describe bullion content. They seem a little heavier than most generic rounds.

Who made them?

Re: Who minted this round?

No digital camera here. It has an eagle on one side and a building I don't recognize on the other. Maybe they are Sterling rounds containing one troy ounce of pure silver.

Did you try Google? I know I have a link to the Dr. of Coins but I gata find ii in the millions of links I have saved. I don't have a digital camera either, thought I was the last one to move into the 21st century:cheerful:. Your theory about .925 seems reasonable until we find out the scoop.

Re: Who minted this round?

I'm not worried. I had heard about sterling generic rounds before, just didn't know I had some! I'm sure they're worth the same as any other generic rounds. Adding copper is not such a bad idea, it works on 90% US coins to prevent wear.

Re: Who minted this round?

I thought this might be the gold version of your coin but it has a feather pen on the back not a building. Found other links but not the coin you describe yet.

Re: Who minted this round?

It's not any of those either. It's privately minted. The building is independence hall and it was minted 1987. The eagle is quartering to my right with wings in swoop down mode and talons outstretched and beak open as if attacking prey. Under the eagles head is a tiny symbol that looks like a "G" with a vertical line through it. It says "Trust in God" above his head.
Now that I got my reading glasses on it's a nicely minted coin.

Is this what the Eagle looks like? I know it's not your coin because it is .999 but amazes me how many varieties of the Bicentennial Constitution coins there appear to be. This is a good looking coin as well.
